At RDI we know how important planning is. Extra time spent tweaking the forming sequence and tool layout can shorten the time required during the part development phase. Add to this our depth of knowledge in the fields of metal flow, tool design, tool manufacturing, part development and secondary machining, all contributing to the success of your projects. We understand the many facets of your business because we have worked in each one.

RDI offers a technician to come on-site to your plant to provide debug assistance for jobs that have been engineered by RDI. Shelter and transportation expenses are additional over and above our daily rate.

As your partner in design, we consult, design tools, and troubleshoot your part development with quality, confidentiality, and customer satisfaction.

In purchasing a typical tool design package from RDI a customer will receive:

  • Part Progression drawing showing preliminary dimension for each station.
  • Individual forming station layouts showing operator setup dimensions.
  • 3D models & drawings produced using the most current version of Siemens Solid Edge solid modeling software.
  • Forming loads and insert press fits all calculated using custom software.
  • Individual tool drawings created in 8-1/2" x 11" format for an easy filing tool list.
  • Have any tool shop manufacture your tools or RDI can provide/recommend a supplier.
  • Tool numbering system provided if none furnished by the customer.
  • Update of any tool drawings changed at end of part development.
  • Ongoing drawing changes available at additional charge.
  • RDI drawing files provided upon completion of part development. Choice include: Autocad DWG, PDF, IGES and STEP format.
  • Part development support provision offered on-site; telephone assistance is available for a fee until the part development phase has been completed.
  • Each design backed by decades of tool design, tool manufacturing, and part development knowledge.

Knowing how dies fail in production, we draw from a wealth of experience to create greater production efficiency through a combination of proven tool design techniques that work and the art of a balanced and well thought out forming sequence. We design tools that can be manufactured at a reasonable price and will provide you with longer tool life.

We offer the choice to order tools from your toolmaker or Ranly Design can recommend a qualified supplier.  Various options for part development assistance are also available on all jobs.
